Who Are We?

The history of the Faculty of Education goes back to 1961. There are 8 departments and 25 sub-departments in our Faculty. Our Faculty, which provides education to more than 4 thousand students with 182 academic staff who are experts and experienced in their fields, is located in the Kurupelit Campus of Ondokuz Mayıs University. Integrated with social and cultural activities, the Faculty is easily accessible and close to the cafes and dormitories. It is known for its outstanding academic achievements and is a preferred educational institution for a quality and enjoyable education life.

What About Our Qualifications and Academic Vision?

With our motto "Our Priority is Educated People", the Faculty of Education has a duty to train high-quality, contemporary educators who give importance to scientific knowledge, have strong cultural and social aspects, and can keep up with the developing modern world. In line with this purpose, our Faculty uses all kinds of resources effectively and efficiently to train educators and academicians who will meet society's social, cultural and educational needs in the light of science and technology.

What Facilities and Opportunities Do We Offer?

There are five computer labs, forty-nine classrooms, one creative drama saloon, two conference halls, three seminar halls, five social communication and reading saloons, one lecturer lounge, two cafes and an extensive library in our Faculty, which provides all kinds of physical opportunities for students to receive a quality education.

Moreover, the projects of the students from the Departments of Foreign Language Education, Psychological Counseling and Guidance, Special Education, Pre-School Education, Art Education, Mathematics Education, Social Sciences Education and Natural Sciences Education have been supported by TÜBİTAK 2209-A University Students Research Projects Support Program.

What Are Our Programs and Job Opportunities?

Faculty of Education offers education in eight departments: Educational Sciences Department, Special Education Department, Primary Education Department, Mathematics and Science Education Department, Fine Arts Education Department, Computer and Instructional Technologies Department, Foreign Language Education Department, and Turkish and Social Sciences Education Department. There are English, German, and French Language Teaching Departments in the Department of Foreign Languages. Our graduate students can be employed at public or private schools of the Ministry of National Education. Graduates from the Department of Special Education can work at special education and rehabilitation centers. The students who graduate from the Department of Psychological Counseling and Guidance can work at health and social work institutions and can also establish their own counselling centers.

What Exchange Programs Do We Offer to Our Students?

We have agreements with Farabi, Mevlana, and Erasmus K131 Programme Country Agreements and K171 Partner Country Agreements. Moreover, the Department of Fine Arts Education has exchanged students with Conservatorio Di Musica Luigi Cherubini in Italy, Liszt Ferenc Academi of Music in Hungary, and Universitatea Din Oradea University in Romania in the last ten years. Department of Turkish and Social Sciences Education has student mobility activities with Yunus Emre Institution.

In What Ways Do We Support the Professional, Cultural and Social Atmosphere?

The Faculty of Education, which organizes many activities for students' academic, professional, social and cultural development, supports students with seminars, collaborations and conferences. Furthermore, our Faculty, which hosts activities that will contribute to the social environment within the scope of community service practices, organizes sports activities and excursions for students. Various collaborations support the social development of students. So, our Faculty organized a Children's Festival with the cooperation of Samsun Governorship, Vezirköprü District Governorship, Vezirköprü Municipality and Vezirköprü District National Education Directorate.

The student clubs are vital as they support the professional, cultural and social atmosphere. We have occupational and social clubs at our university. The occupational clubs are bound to the faculties, while the social clubs have general qualifications. Our Faculty has transformed professional practices into gains by signing protocols with many official institutions.
